Hi, my name is Umesh Upreti and welcome to my Blog!

I am an IT professional working as a System Administrator and Network Administrator since 2006. I received my Bachelor's Degree in Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science and Master's Degree in Master of Science in Computer Science. I started learning about server administration in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL3) back in 2004 during my final year of college. Since then I have used many Linux distributions including Red Hat, Fedora, CentOS, Ubuntu, OpenSUSE, FreeBSD, Debian, Kali Linux and MikroTik. At the moment, I mainly use Kali Linux, Red Hat, Ubuntu and CentOS. Kali Linux and Ubuntu are different distributions of Debian Linux and CentOS is developed by using a open source code provided by Red Hat. If you want to learn and experience RHEL, CentOS would be the best choice which gives you RHEL’s tools and features without the branding and the support of an enterprise license that RHEL provides. In 2008, I started server administration in Windows using Windows Server 2008 R2, and managed Windows based application servers like BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES), Exchange Server, Document management server etc. Currently, I am working with Windows Server 2016 and manage on-prem Exchange 2016, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, IIS, SQL server and other application servers. My recent project was virtualization of servers using VMware type-1 Hypervisor (ESXi), IBM servers and IBM Storwize SAN technology, HPE ProLiant servers and NetApp Storage unit. And in Feb 2021, I started a YouTube channel to help those who are just beginning their journey in network and system administration.

Besides working with servers and network, I enjoy taking pictures, reading books, listening music and traveling to new places. Photography was always my hobby but it became my passion after getting my first DSLR, Nikon D60, in 2009. Shortly after getting my hands on D60, I was overwhelmed with the information I was gathering about the camera, lenses and the overall photography tools and techniques. And that was the reason, I started this blog to share the knowledge I was gathering during the learning process.
